Photomorgana

Photomorgana

£1,800

by Alex Becker (2012) /Acrylic and mixed technique on canvas / 100 x 80 cm.

This vibrant painting shows a sequence of figures moving across an abstract landscape, their shadows, which are outlined in white, are reflected below. Becker’s painting is notable for the sense of insubstantiality it conveys; the figures are no more solid than the shadows. It could be argued that the title Photomorgana is a pun on Fata Morgana, a mirage which is made up of several distorted images, some upside-down, stacked on top of each other.
