26 Nov 2013 – Nothing says happiness like the good old British cuppa, so with that in mind during its January exhibition Escape To Happiness, Guerilla Galleries will be hosting High Tea for the over 60s at the Daniel Libeskind Space in Islington, London.
Gallery production director Keeley Wynn said: “Social isolation is a blot on society’s copybook we are endeavouring to take a stand against this using tea and empathy.
“We’re incorporating contemporary art with that very British institution – the afteroon cup of tea, engaging older members of our community at a time of year where loneiless hits them hardest.”
The afternoon tea session will see guests get to enjoy a guided tour around the exhibition and engage in a discussion with a selection of the 20 artists on show. Opportunities may also exist to participate.
ART & TEA
The gallery is in talks with Islington artist & baker Chloe Hamilton to create the baked table-and guests will be served a variety of teas by gallery staff throughout this very social event.
“Many elderly people live alone and seldom get out. This offers them the chance to do something very different in a gallery space they will never have visited before,” Wynn added. Guerilla Galleries which recently signed up to support the Campaign to End Loneliness promises to continue hosting a FREE afternoon event at each of its major shows.
